On Gender and Military Service at the AWSS Conference in Riga
21.-23.05.2026.
Researchers Liene Ozoliņa, Maija Spuriņa, and Iveta Ķešāne participated in the Association for Women in Slavic Studies (AWSS) conference, held this year in Riga at the Art Academy of Latvia, from 21 to 23 May.
At the conference, the researchers presented a paper entitled “Gender and Military Conscription in Contemporary Latvia: Discourse Analysis of Militarization”, addressing issues of gender representation in public discourse surrounding compulsory military service.
